Cases I Handle
I have spent my career seeking justice and compensation for victims of civil rights violations. Learn more about the types of cases I handle:
Police Misconduct & Excessive Force
Police misconduct occurs when officers exceed their lawful authority, causing injuries or serious violations of rights. Officers who use excessive force, make a false arrest, or engage in an unlawful search are in violation of a person’s rights under the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. These violations can include:
- Excessive force/police brutality
- Police shootings
- Wrongful death
- Sexual assaults by officers
- Dog bites
- False arrest/false imprisonment
- Unlawful search and seizure
- First Amendment violations
Jail & Prison Abuse
Jail or prison guards or personnel who use excessive force or otherwise violate an inmate’s rights can be held accountable for their actions. Jail and prison misconduct may involve:
- Excessive force/brutality by guards
- Assaults, including sexual assaults, by guards or inmates
- Denial of medical or psychiatric care for inmates
- Jail or prison suicides
Wrongful Conviction
It is far too common that innocent people are convicted of crimes, only to be exonerated after years in prison. If the wrongful conviction is a result of misconduct by law enforcement, the exoneree may be entitled to compensation for the time spent imprisoned, and all other damage resulting from the wrongful conviction.
